Iraq Warns of $300 Per Barrel Oil. Escalating tensions in the Middle East and a potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz could drive oil prices up to $300 per barrel, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein warned during a phone conversation with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul. On Friday morning, Israeli jets bombed military and nuclear sites across Iran, kicking off an ongoing exchange of hostilities between the two countries. According to Hussein, oil prices could surge to between $200 and $300 per barrel “if military operations were to break out, which would significantly increase inflation rates in European countries and complicate oil exports for producing states such as Iraq.” The closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a key transport route, could “result in the loss of approximately five million barrels per day from Gulf and Iraqi oil supplies in the global market,” the Iraqi foreign minister was quoted as saying. Analysts have highlighted the potential impact of such a closure on global oil prices. JPMorgan analysts estimate that in a severe scenario, oil could surge to $130 per barrel. Other experts suggest that a complete blockade could push prices even higher, with some forecasts reaching $300 per barrel. Escalating conflict in the Middle East could send the commodity skyrocketing

House Republicans Investigating California Governor and LA Mayor Over Riots. House Oversight Committee has accused the two Democrats of “falsely” claiming they had the situation under control. The US House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has begun an investigation into riots in California that have followed a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid on illegal migrants. Committee members are accusing Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass of inaction and obstructing federal attempts to manage the unrest. The protests that erupted last week quickly devolved into riots, with participants torching police cars and US flags, blocking highways, and clashing with law enforcement officers. The latter have responded with tear gas and rubber bullets, with hundreds of arrests, as well as multiple injuries on both sides reported. The start of the probe was announced in a press release by the US House Oversight Committee on Friday. (Video)

North Carolina State Rep Waves Trump’s Decapitated Head at ‘No Kings’ Protest: ‘Some Cuts May Be Necessary’. A North Carolina state representative has called for President Trump’s beheading. Rep. Julie von Haefen attended the “No Kings” protest yesterday in North Carolina holding an effigy of what appeared to be the decapitated heads of Trump and his senior policy advisor Stephen Miller. As well as the gruesome heads of Trump and Miller, von Haefen appeared to be waving a banner that said: “In These Difficult Times, Some Cuts May Be Necessary.” Stephen Miller’s forehead was also engraved with a swastika, a reference to Nazi symbolism. Miller himself is Jewish. Von Haefen’s gruesome stunt was particularly iill-timed given that hours before, two members of the Minnesota legislature were shot by a man posing as police, killing Speaker Emeritus Melissa Hortmun and her husband. Von Haefen appears to be sheltering herself from criticism by locking her X account.

Singer Defies Dodgers Officials and Sings National Anthem in Spanish to Show Solidarity with Anti-ICE Rioters.  Singer Vanessa Hernandez, who performs under the name “Nezza,” sang the National Anthem in Spanish to show solidarity with anti-ICE rioters, despite being instructed not to do so by Dodgers officials. Wearing a Dominican Republic shirt, Nezza posted a video on TikTok in which she was told to perform the anthem in English, but sang it in Spanish anyway, before the Dodgers’ game against the San Francisco Giants. “We are going to do the song in English today,” the official says, before it cuts to a clip of her ignoring the instructions. The entitled performer posted another video explaining that she was surprised when she was told to sing it in English. According to reports, Hernandez is unfortunately NOT banned from the stadium. Violent riots have been taking place daily in Los Angeles since June 6 in response to Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in the area. (Video)
